MIFM, Indigenous Peoples’ Day Edition with Christina Quintanilla
I chatted with Christina @chrissieq of @cq_soulcare about the power of decolonizing our spirituality and well-being practices, and remaining open to unlearning & learning. 💓 We dived into learning about Christina’s journey and Indigenous roots, and how this led her to the work she does now as a Spiritual Director, Ethnic Studies Teacher & Faith Rooted Activist. She also uplifted the importance of knowing about the land we inhabit, learning about the Indigenous peoples and their stories, along with our own ancestry. Connecting with our elders, whether within our own family or community, is a form of medicine and healing - particularly for communities of color who are deeply impacted by colonialism. Despite the trauma, we are resilient, Christina reminds us, and we can HEAL! #resilience
And if you are a woman of color, do not miss @chrissieq beautiful program which launches Oct. 28 💓- Calling Her Spirit Back: WOC / Femme Soul Care Collective. WOC / Femmes have the sacred opportunity to learn from an array of speakers who are all doing #heartcentered work that uplifts #collectiveliberation. We ended our live with a beautiful grounding meditation led by @chrissieq in nature! 🌍🌳
Christina is an Indigenous Xicana with ancestors on both sides of the US-México border. She has found deep medicine in communing with ancestral land (Oklahoma, Chihuahua, Guanajuato), experiencing Creator Jesus in ceremony, and awakening to the love of matriarchs and antepasados. Christina holds a Bachelors of Sociology from UCLA and a Masters of Divinity (with an emphasis in trauma-informed spiritual care) from NAIITS.
As a spiritual director and ethnic studies instructor, she believes there is power in learning our stories and building collective liberation. Her deepest joy is holding space for women to heal soul wounds and reclaim their fullness. Drawing from her Indigenous roots, Christina facilitates gentle spaces for you to feel held by the Creator and accompanied on the spiritual journey.
