Discussing “Dark Beauty” photography and film series created by Daisy B.

Listen to our IG Live interview here.

Celebrating Black beauty in a world intent on telling us we are not worthy! I caught up with photographer and documentarian Daisy B. @heydaisyb founder of @thebrowngirlproductions. One of her latest projects is “Dark Beauty” a film and photography series which uplifts the beauty and diverse lived experiences of #darkskinned Black women. Born and raised in Sandtown Winchester (Baltimore, Maryland), Daisy fell in love with photography as early as the 4th grade. Her mother gave her that first camera and camcorder. Collaborating with other creative projects led her to a love ♥️ of filming documentaries.

We discuss releasing colorism - the idea that light skin is superior to dark skin; it is rooted in the false ideology of white supremacy, and has a global reach in BIPOC communities. Unlearning this is critical.
