Discussing Black Motherhood and Maternal Health with Rowana, founder of Spoken Black Girl Magazine

Listen to the replay here.

We discussed uplifting the lived experiences of Black mothers, and raising awareness about the Black maternal crisis in this month’s Move it Forward Monday (Women’s Herstory Month edition) with my dear friend Rowana, writer, founder and editor-in-chief of Spoken Black Girl magazine; the new issue focused on Black motherhood drops on March 26, and you can pre-order here.

Readers will find it uplifts the joys 💕 and challenges of motherhood, highlighting challenges disproportionally impacting Black women - fertility, maternal health, maternal mental health. You’ll also find birth stories, and depictions of motherhood’s most enlightening moments along with reflections on generational trauma and hope for collective healing. 💐 There is art, photography, poetry, essays & fiction from emerging creatives. The cover features author 📚 Leonora Martelly, founder of She is Made. Photographer: Cristian Genao Photo & Films: IG @cristiangphotogrphy.
